Giving Thanks

Psalm 92

A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.
1 It is good to praise the LORD
and make music to your name, O Most High,

2 to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,

3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.

4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD;
I sing for joy at the works of your hands.

5 How great are your works, O LORD,
how profound your thoughts!

6 The senseless man does not know,
fools do not understand,

7 that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be forever destroyed.

8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.

9 For surely your enemies, O LORD,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.

10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox;
fine oils have been poured upon me.

11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

13 planted in the house of the LORD,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,

15 proclaiming, "The LORD is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."

One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 92. I think because it starts, "It is good to praise the Lord". We should seek to give praise to Him in all that we do. (Oh, and I like the ten-stringed lyre. It has to be one of my favorite instruments)

It seems common curiosity is seen less and less as our world's focus drifts away from God and His blessings that He has continually given us. We receive His blessings (and even see miracles happening daily around us) but we are only thankful for a moment. We receive a miracles then we go on with life and forget it happened, or we give thanks to modern science.

It reminds me of Luke 17:11-19, where Jesus heals the 10 lepers. He heals 10 guys, and one guy, the least likely of the 10, returns to give thanks, Jesus says, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

I see so many who may not have much that get picky about how something that was given them in the first place is not what they wanted, or not the right color, or they really don't like it, it wasn't what they expected. Why? Why can't we be thankful for what we have. God has given us so much.

This Thanksgiving (and everyday) lets remember to be thankful and praise the Lord for His goodness. Also, lets be giving in response to His goodness. Seek people who need your help, and give of your time, talent, prayers, and money.

On aside note...

This week I set some goals to complete.

1. Start my podcast again and begin a blog. (OK. That may be 2 in 1 goals)

As you can see I got the blog part done. The podcast is a little more difficult. I need To remember how to get audio on to the web. I've been doing video so much (actually haven't done that for awhile either.) that I forget how to get the audio up. LOL

2. Eat lots of turkey

I figured I needed an attainable goal since I lacked confidence in myself to complete the first goal. After all I have had goal 1 on my list for the last 2 or 3 weeks.
